I was always a devoted Christian growing up. I never did anything crazy, not even in high-school. When I went to my first year of college, I started hanging out with the wrong crowd. My new-found friend was beautiful, popular, and very worldly. I felt accepted. As if I was someone special because she chose to hang out with me.
All of a sudden felt a bit liberated. I stopped attending church so I could hang out with her. My relationship with the Lord began to grow colder. Thank God for my mother, who warned me about the path I was going on. I had enough sense to listen to her and got rid of my so call friend before it was too late. The way the friend was taking me on was the path of death. The Bible says, when evil desires are conceived, they give birth to sin. Sin gives birth to death.

Though I never saw my friend again, I did acquire another "friend" that took me on a path of self-destruction. This friend wasn't a real person. It was a bunch of habits. I thought they weren't a big deal. I thought it was just fun and harmless, but they affected my life. So I decided to part ways.
Though this is not a confession of sins to the world, I will mention a few things. I decided to get rid of News, social media, and chocolates. Yes, you heard me. The News gave me anxiety, unrest, and sadness. Social media took my eyes off the righteousness God gives us through Jesus. Instead, it directed my eyes to see what everyone else was doing better than me. Of course, chocolates affected my overall health.
I have been meditating on Hebrews 12 and James 1:19. They both encourage us to throw off, and get rid of the sin that so easily entangles us and hinder us from our goal in Christ.
Instead, let's humbly receive the seed of the word of God. The gospel of Jesus to salvation.
Do you need to get rid of a toxic relationship in your life? I'm sorry if you were expecting me to encourage you to get rid of your relatives. Instead, I want to encourage you to get rid of anything that hinders your relationship with the Lord.
So, bring it to the Lord. Get rid of any sin the Lord is pointing out.
